IMPORTANT MEETING

Our next meeting will be @ 7 PM on May 14th.  Please attend if you can.  I encourage all coaches to pay their sponsorship fee by the end of the first half of the season.  THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!!  I hope everyone has a great 2008 season.

IT'S FALL BALL TIME AGAIN!

Remember, the driveway to the rear of the concession area is closed because of construction.

The City will allow us to park at the concession stand during regular meetings, Sign up, Etc.

HOWEVER, for practice and game play you MUST Park on the parking lot.  Thank you.

We had a very productive meeting on Wednesday, April 9.  We had very good attendance for this time of year.

It was reported by our secretary./treasurer  that the balance in our checking account was $14,065.68.  We will have some more bills to pay to Sport Shop for equipment and uniforms.  Matt Lyles reported that we still need  receive some more sponsorship monies.  If you have not paid your sponsorship fee for your team, please do so as soon as possible.
We had a lot of general discussion on the subject of rain-outs.  Steve reported that he was beginning to re-schedule these games and asked that everyone please cooperate with him when he calls you to make up a game.

The President reported that Shane Pigue, Tournament Director of the Wally Hall - Tournament of Champions that will be held at Benton had called and asked that we encourage all of our teams to participate.  The tournament will be held over the Memorial Day weekend.  It will be a very good tournament.

We will be meeting throughout the Summertime the second Wednesday @ 7 PM.  Try to attend.

The President reported that the work at Bishop Park is proceeding.  However, some neighboring residents have filed a suit in an attempt to halt construction.  I'll try to keep everyone up on the proceedings.

We handed out a sheet with a Code of Ethics for the Players, Coaches, and Parents.  These would be very good to use with your teams.

Hello Everyone!
Desiree', Justin, Joe and I have missed seeing and talking to everyone.

I hope everyone has enjoyed a little time off the summer.
We blinked our eyes and now we are facing Fall Ball.

I want to let everyone know weekly I will post the Concession Stand Duties on the message board. I will also call each coach, a week in advance, to remind them of their teams volunteer duties for Bryant Softball Association. (Same manner it was done during the Spring Softball Season).

ALL TEAMS

NEED AT LEAST 7 to 8 PEOPLE FOR THE TEAM CONCESSION DUTY.
If your team has more, that is great because we can always use more help.

My sweet children (Desiree' and Justin) that most of you love to work with and harass, will not be able to be at the park, all day, most Saturdays, due to commitments to the Bryant High School Band. Yes, you will all still see them, just maybe not as much. I hate to disappoint so many of the coaches and their parents, but I thought it best to fore warn each of you. (hahahahahaha)
Seriously though their absences will cut back on the help they provided to the park and the teams. Therefore, the teams, Joe, and myself will have more responsibility this Fall.

PLEASE

Have at least 2 to 3 people at the concession stand 30 minutes before your scheduled duty. One person for the gate and another in the concession stand. This is imperative for the first teams scheduled each Saturday; due to, gate admissions and concession preparation. During the remainder of the day it will serve as a transition period for teams changing shifts.

CHANGES

We are going to do things a little differently for this season.
All teams will have a clean up period for the bathrooms, entryway, meeting room, concession stand, and ball park. I feel this is only fair to all the teams. I am hoping to cut down on the cleanup work and time spent cleaning for the last team of the day. So, all the areas listed above will be picked up and cleaned up 3 times a day instead of once or twice a day.

I also need to clarify a couple of item for the concession stand.

(1) PLEASE NO EATING IN THE CONCESSION STAND

I had several complaints by customers that they did not appreciate standing at the windows to watch people in the concession eat before or while preparing or serving their food. All volunteer's food must be taken outside.

(2) Drinks and Food

Bryant Softball Association donates drinks coffee, tea, ice water, and cokes to the concession stand volunteers only, this does not include their family members.  Volunteers must purchase all food products and bottled drinks a receipt will be given to you for the proof of purchase. (In case asked by a board member)  We can not freely feed all volunteers, their children, or their other family members. Our association is a non-profit organization. The concession stand and gate proceeds are invested back into the park for all our supplies and other necessities the park or teams may need.

(3) No One Under the age of 14 in the concession stand.

This is an Arkansas Department of Health Regulation.. This does not mean that children can continuously come to the windows and yell at their parents. Please talk to you children about having respect for all the concession stand volunteers and customers.

(4) Teenage Volunteers

I realize some teams with children over the age of 14 have few parents that want to volunteer for the team concession stand duty. But everyone (children and parents) in the concession stand needs to realize we need volunteers that are willing to help, not stand around and talk, unwilling to do their part.  Teams planning to have the girls themselves in the concession stand will also need a few parents to volunteer.  The only reason these statements are being brought up is because of problems and complaints that arose during the Spring season.

PARKING

All concession stand volunteers will be allowed to park in back near the concession stand.
All other people please see the message posted on the BSA homepage.

I realize portions of this message seem very harsh. I am not intending to upset anyone.
But I am trying to eliminate past problems that developed.

I want every team that volunteers to enjoy the time they are donating to BSA, (everyone that has worked with us had hopefully seen that behavior) but also, the experiences should used as teaching tool/ learning tools for ourselves and children.

My family and I look forward to working with each of the teams this season. I wish all the teams the best of luck with few injuries.

Thank you,
